Friends of the Library
The Friends of the Library is a unique group whose membership funds the maintenance and improvement of the Library’s physical building and grounds. This is a group of involved citizens who know that, without their financial and volunteer support, North Tillamook County would not have a Library that is so convenient, comfortable and easy to use.
Building a Community of Learners
Our library is an essential cultural and educational resource that continues to grow in importance as it supports and encourages a community of learners.
As owner of the library building and grounds the Friends organization plays a critical role in the daily operations of the library, as well as the future of the facility.
The Friends provide ongoing maintenance of the library building and grounds and implements an annual maintenance and improvement plan to make sure the library facility can continue to serve Wheeler, Nehalem, Manzanita, our rural communities and visitors to the area far into the future.
Our partner – the Tillamook County Library system – provides all library materials and staff, but without our unique public-private partnership our communities might well not have robust, quality library services and an attractive, useful facility.
The Friends are dedicated to maintaining an adequate financial reserve that could respond effectively to future needs, including the prospect of eventual expansion of the library facility. Future needs may include having the economic resiliency to rebound in support of the community’s needs in the face of issues such as a major economic downturn or a natural disaster.
Thanks to annual Friends memberships, ongoing fundraising activities and grant applications the Friends’ financial reserves help ensure that the 30-year old library building and grounds remain in top-notch condition able to serve the community now and in the future.
